Claire and Dave!
Due to some construction and it being dark, I "knew" where we were going but the construction threw me off and we ended up getting a little lost (ironically 2 weeks after this I received a GPS for Christmas which helped immensely when we went to the Davidson vs Elon game in January!) We finally made our way to campus and found a parking lot but was told it was full and we weren't allowed to park there. Well, we turned in to the parking lot to turn around and happened to find a few empty spaces in the back corner. Being the gals that we are, I decided to leave a note so that Claire's car wouldn't get towed in case we really weren't supposed to park in the spot we found! I mean we had a game to get to! Priorities people! Little did we both know that even though we missed tip off, I'm really good at picking people out of a crowd and noticed Dave and his brother sitting behind the Elon bench all the way across the gym! During half time, I decided we should go say hi since I hadn't seen them in over a year.
Little did we all know that on this December 2008 night, they would both meet their soul mates! Claire and Dave got engaged December 2009 and get married THIS WEEKEND!!!!!
I am SO excited for them and so blessed to be a part of their special day! I'm also really excited that we are wearing black dresses and Carolina Blue shoes! Woo hoo! This picture makes me chuckle because it's so random but I can't wait to take part in the wedding festivities!
And this is a random sign that I happened to take a picture of that same week that I introduced Dave and Claire! God is great!
So there you have it. Claire and Dave are getting married this weekend and I couldn't be happier for them! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!

Wowsers Wednesday
But really, not having a picture of this was so not an option. And yes, for any law enforcement people reading this, I drove 50 miles back to back for 2 deliveries with only the product I was delivering, my keys and phone...no license, no money, no id. I'm a smart one I tell ya!
Yep, gotta love the construction Uptown! This is next to Bobcats Arena/Time Warner Cable Arena...whatever you wish to call it. I thought it was hilarious!
Happy Wednesday!

3 inch killer bees!
For the last 2 weeks, I have had a self diagnosed "3 inch killer bee" epidemic in front of my apartment.
Literally, the bushes are a breeding ground for them!
Every morning when I leave for work, I open my door to at least 30 of them. No joke. I counted one morning as they buzzed by.
Naturally, I waited a few days and called the apartment people to place a work order for maintenance to remedy the situation. I came home from work and the exterminator left a note that he had sprayed and everything should be fine.
Wrong!
I opened the door the next day and they had multiplied! Adrienne thought I was crazy, so I made her come visit and sure enough, she came before lunch and at least 20 of them were waiting for her.
So I went back to the apartment people and the exterminator came again.
The message that was left for me went something like this:
"Um ma'am, you don't have '3 inch killer bees' you have what's known as Cicada Killers. They won't hurt you. Well, the female will if you make her mad, so don't do that. But if you take a closer look they are all over the area and will be gone in about 2 to 3 weeks. You do have a large amount of them but spraying won't do nothing. We sprayed anyway but they aren't going to leave for a few more weeks. They are good for the environment though cause those Cicadas are loud"
So I googled "cicada killers" and came up with this lovely definition courtesy of Wikipedia:
"Cicada killer wasps are large, solitary, ground dwelling, predatory wasps. They are so named because they hunt cicadas and provision their nests with them, after stinging and paralyzing them. There are 21 species worldwide. The highest diversity occurs in the region between North Africa and Central Asia....and your apartment!"
and this definition
"Adult Eastern cicada killer wasps are large, 1.5 to 5 cm (2/3 to 2 inches) long, robust wasps with hairy, reddish and black areas on the thorax (middle part), and are black to reddish brown marked with light yellow stripes on the abdominal (rear) segments. The wings are brownish. Coloration may superficially resemble that of yellowjackets or hornets. The females are somewhat larger than the males, and both are among the largest wasps seen in the Eastern United States, their unusual size giving them a uniquely fearsome appearance. European hornets (Vespa crabro) are often mistaken for Eastern cicada killers."
I also thought I'd include this picture from the definition. Really though, how am I supposed to walk to my car and stay away from those stinging females when they resemble one another so closely!
My oh my how I'm so pumped to be looking at that "uniquely fearsome appearance" for the next 2 weeks! Woo hoo!

Just a Small Town Girl, Living in the Queen City!
My Mom and I were talking last night about this topic as I mentioned that it would be nice to know a guy in Charlotte that I could call if I "hypothetically" needed to pick up a helium tank after work today for an event at work tomorrow....because apparently they are heavy, awkward to handle and well, heavy! Being the mother that she is, she gave me the "God's plan/timing/waiting/patience" speech. :) love you mom! But she also encouraged me to read the links. I talked to mother again this morning and she had mentioned that she already saw over 50 people had participated but she didn't have time to read anything yet. She did mention that it would be cool if I participated. So, here goes nothing!
I'm Megan. I live and work in Charlotte, NC but I'm from The First State...Delaware! I'm commonly referred to as Delaware for the purpose of this blog ;)
I LOVE sports. To watch, not so good with the whole playing thing! College Basketball is my passion. Seriously, I've been known to spend a lot of time in a car to get to a game and always have a blast! Naturally, attending a game in person is the best experience but I've also been known to watch college football/basketball/baseball on tv and occasionally golf. I'm not that into professional sports, but with my current occupation I have been blessed to meet many pro and former college athletes!
I LOVE kids! I was a nanny for a few years and loved every moment of it. I miss these kiddos terribly!
My friends and family mean the world to me. I've been extremely blessed with a great group of friends from all walks of life.
While I'm a self described "church hopper", I loved my High School Sunday School class and participating in Young Life. I still keep in contact with my High School Sunday School teacher.
That's all I can think of for now! Hope everyone has fun!

The Proposal
But this post isn't about that movie. It's about popping THE question. A few weeks ago, or maybe it was months ago, Kelly did a "Share your Proposal" post. I read a few of them and some were amazing...really, I want to go back and read all of them. But I also wanted to post my own proposal stories.
Of course, I am not married nor am I engaged.
But, I have friends that are married or engaged and so I want to share their stories!
April and Keith got engaged March 26, 2005 in Florida at Ks brothers house.
K sent A out on an Easter egg hunt in the back yard and the eggs were all lines to a poem K wrote for A. The last 2 eggs read "I can't imagine you not in my life..." and as Keith was down on one knee, April was reading the last one "Will you be my wife?"
They were married May 27, 2006
Audrey and Jack got engaged September 20, 2007 at the Duke botanical gardens.
A was under the assumption that she was going to an art preview party thing and was all dressed up and as she walked up the stairs through the garden, J was at the top in a tux surrounded by flowers and candles.
They were married September 20, 2008...which was special since they received their high school rings on September 20, an engagement ring September 20 and lastly a wedding ring September 20!
Steph and Marcus got engaged December 6, 2009 in some garden in Charlotte.
M convinced S that they needed to take pictures together to send a Christmas card to their family and friends. Since M had booked the photographer, he told S they should do individual pics for Facebook! HA! As S sat on a rock smiling for the camera by herself, M came around and as she looked over he was on one knee. They have pictures of the entire proposal!
They are getting married September 5, 2010
Claire and Dave got engaged December 23, 2009 at the Biltmore.
He basically just asked her. Flat out!
They are getting married July 24, 2010
Shannon and Jimmy got engaged in October 2008 at the Biltmore.
It was cute. The dessert tray had "Will you marry me?" written in chocolate.
They got married October 24, 2009
Brittany and Michael just got engaged June 18, 2010 in Seattle.
B was there on business and M flew out and surprised her! She may or may not have "won" a trip to the Space Needle for this to occur!
They are getting married December 31, 2010...which is fitting since they met December 31, 2008!
Just thought I'd share!

The Home of the Free and the Brave
I started the day kind of bummed because I'm wasn't home with my friends and family. I wasn't headed to the beach with the crew for fireworks. I didn't eat a cheeseburger with the crew or my family. I was in the living room of my apartment, by myself, washing my carpets...glamorous I know!
For the first time ever, I had no plans to celebrate Americas birthday with those I love.
ABC and her hubby are in Charleston, Steph and Marcus went to the lake, and my friend Theresa had to work until 9.
While I could've gone to the baseball game for the fireworks, I didn't want to go alone. But I didn't want to miss fireworks.
Being a child of so much technology, I set my DVR to record the Boston Pops.
That made me sad.
So I went out to grab a copy of the paper and started to realize that now I was angry.
The "major chains" were all open. I could go almost anywhere I wanted to and that made me mad!
Its July 4.
Americas birthday.
And for that reason alone every shopping establishment should be closed! Yes gas stations and emergency service places and probably hotels should be open but that's it. In my opinion.
I think it's a day when we, as American citizens, should spend time reflecting on our freedom and thanking those brave soldiers that fought for our freedoms and continue to fight for our freedoms. It's not a day we should take for granted. I think too many people these days are too "comfortable". They look to this as a 3 or 4 day weekend forgetting why they receive an extra holiday. (maybe I'm bitter since my place of employment only views thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter as holidays) But as I was sulking in my "aloneness" I realized that I needed to grow up and continue to love July 4th like I always have. Because even though they weren't around at the time, I have the freedom to visit my friends whenever I want. And I can call home whenever I want. And I can drive the many hours home when work will allow. I don't have to wait for the government to tell my troop/platoon/team/base/ship/any other military when I am allowed to come HOME.
I'm blessed.
I'm not off fighting on enemy grounds. I'm not separated from my family by a large body of water for 6 months to a year or more. And for those reasons and many others, I thank our soldiers past, present and future.
